WEDNESDAY was a red
letter day for Quigley's Point with the official
opening of new premises for the Children's Point
childcare facility at the local community centre.
Speaking at the official opening, Senator Cecilia
Keaveney congratulated all those who had given of
their time and money to make the top class centre a
reality.
The playgroup committee members are Tina Breslin;
Laurie Magee; Candy McLaughlin; Sinead Faulkner;
Tanya Wakely, playgroup manager; Siobhan McLaughlin;
Milanda McCauley - playgroup leader; Breege
Caulfield, Tracy Harley and Grace Hirrell.
"I have walked some of the road with this group and
know the hard work, the commitment, the tears and
the toil. Today watching the youngsters really
enjoying themselves and seeing also the pride in the
faces of the adults, I trust that they all recognise
that it was worth it all," she said.
She said the move into the main building would
ensure that from toddler stage onwards, the local
children would have a strong affinity with their
local community centre.
There are plans for further expansion of the
services and Senator Keaveney encouraged everyone in
the community to continue to support the great work
that is being done for future generations.
"This is a day to savour the fruits of long years of
planning and the contributions of so many past and
present committee members. It was an honour to be
asked to officially open the childcare facility. I
wish Tanya and her team every success and the
youngsters every happiness. Indeed if the facility
was left open to the adults it would amuse and
entertain many, such is the standard of finish," she
added.
