A DELEGATION of Donegal
Sinn Féin elected representatives will meet the
manager of Letterkenny General Hospital this Friday.
The meeting with Shaun Murphy will be used to
discuss progress on matters important to people in
Donegal including cancer care services, an update on
the new A&E unit and the impact of the new private
hospital.
The delegation will include Senator Pearse Doherty
and councillors Pádraig MacLochlainn, Gerry
McMonagle, Marie Therese Gallagher and Tony McDaid.
Cllr. MacLochlainn said the meeting was Sinn Féin's
first with Shaun Murphy and the delegation had "a
significant range of matters to discuss with him".
"In recent years, we have met with then acting
manager Paddy Rooney and prior to that former
manager, Chris Lyons," said Cllr. MacLochlainn.
"We feel that it is important to engage with these
important public officials in a focused face to face
fashion on a regular basis to ensure progress on
important matters and to discuss concerns raised by
the public.
"We will be seeking an update on the new A&E ward,
the impact of the new private hospital on hospital
staffing and services, hospital efficiency levels,
and cancer care services, as well as other matters.
We have always found these meetings to be frank,
productive and informative in the past and we are
confident that this engagement will be no
different." |
