Clonmany too much for Aileach
|
Clonmany Reserves 5 (A. Doherty 11, 14, K. Harkin 23, Edmund Doherty 40, Emlyn Doherty 55) Aileach Reserves 2 (Craig 42, S. McGuinness 68) by Inishowen Independent THE home side began well with Aiden Doherty breaking clear but being denied by keeper Joe Coyle before at the other end a dangerous Derek Gallagher cross was well cleared by Declan Grant. Clonmany took the lead on 11 minutes when Gearoid Doherty fed Aiden Doherty and he fired low to the corner from 14 yards. |

Minutes later the same
player made it 2-0 when he neatly side-stepped a
defender before shooting low past Coyle. Midway through
the half the home side added a third when Karl Harkin
ran onto Edmund Doherty’s pass and confidently slipped
the ball home. Aileach responded with both Liam Bradley and Kieran Craig having 20 yard efforts saved well by Patrick Harkin. But Clonmany struck for number four on 40 minutes; Emlyn Doherty fed Edmund Doherty who finished well from 15 yards. Aileach replied before the interval when Gallagher pulled the ball back from the byline for Craig to sidefoot home. Ten minutes after the break a corner for the home side fell to Emlyn Doherty and from the edge of the area he hammered a rising shot to the top corner. Aileach replied with Stephen McGuinness having a shot from distance turned away by Harkin before McGuinness advanced from midfield to unleash a superb shot to the roof of the net. |
Clonmany finished well when
Michael Harkin fired wide before Daniel McLaughlin
crossed to Aiden Doherty but he blazed over. For full coverage of all your weekend sport, read the Inishowen Independent. |
