DONEGAL County Council
and Limavady Borough Council are teaming up to
provide a ‘Train the Trainer' course to businesses
and individuals throughout the region as part of a
major cross border skills drive.
The ‘Train the Trainer’ courses will help the local
small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) sector to
train staff in-house and provide them with the
skills necessary to maintain the region's reputation
of providing high quality standards of service.
Local resource development officer with Donegal
County Council Kevin O’Connor said the course would
provide organisations with an in-depth practical and
theoretical understanding of training in the
business environment. "They will also gain an
invaluable insight into the knowledge, skills and
attitudes that successful trainers need to design,
deliver, assess and evaluate high quality training,"
he said.
The Train the Trainer course is part of a wider
tourism skills development programme, the Atlantic
Drift Training Programme, which commenced in
September. The €159,000 project was funded under
INTERREG 111A Programme for Ireland/N.Ireland. It
has already provided training to more than 200
people throughout the region in customer care,
e-commerce and website development, marketing,
public relations, media management and festival and
event management. In addition to this six tourism
related businesses underwent a highly successful
mentoring programme.
“The 'Train the Trainer' course is the last part of
the Atlantic Drift Training Programme and therefore
I expect demand for places to be very strong, as has
been the case with the rest of the courses," added
Mr. O'Connor. If you would like your business to
