Hats off to the Wig Walkers
09.10.08
DONEGAL Action for
Cancer Care (DACC) has extended a huge thank you to
all the people including some from Inishowen who
turned up for their unique Wig Walk last Saturday.
The Wig Walk was an eight-mile sponsored walk on a
very cold wet and windy day along Altantic Drive in
Downings. |
DACC chairperson Betty
Holmes described the fun of seeing men, women and
children donned in colourful wigs of all shapes and
sizes and outlined the reasons behind the
fundraiser's success.
"Some had come along to remember loved ones and
friends who had passed away, others are going
through cancer themselves |

and some simply felt
they had a role to play in this wonderful day," she
said.
"The children who were offered lifts when it looked
like the eight miles was getting too much, refused
even though they had sore feet, were soaked to the
skin and just wanted to go home.
"This is an example of the strength and commitment
that those affected by cancer and their families
have to find every day. Donegal Action for Cancer
Care would like to say a very sincere and emotional
'thank you' and remind you all that you're simply
the best," added Betty. |
