Inishowen is set for
a 'significant' jobs boost shortly, Deputy Cecilia
Keaveney has revealed.
She said negotiations were underway between
Enterprise Ireland and a local company to secure a
deal that would lead to the creation of new jobs for
the area.
This follows the confirmation of 140 new jobs for
Donegal yesterday.
A €6m investment by E&I Engineering Ireland,
Burnfoot, will result in 67 new jobs in engineering,
research and development.
The company, located on the main Buncrana to Derry
Road, specialises in bespoke switchgear and
electrical distribution products for the
international construction industry.
Meanwhile, Pramerica Systems Ireland Ltd., based in
Letterkenny, is to create 70 new jobs. The company
is in the process of expanding its services' centre
with the need for more software development,
financial services and call centre staff.
Deputy Keaveney said Philip O' Doherty, of E& I, had
led this 'dynamic company' from start-up through
growth phases to develop a "strong reputation for
quality and innovation" internationally.
However, she indicated that further announcements
could be on the cards for the peninsula. She said:
"I can confirm that negotiations are continuing
between Enterprise Ireland and another Inishowen
company with a view to securing a deal which would
lead to another significant jobs announcement for
Inishowen. I hope to be able to give further details
on this shortly.
"The new situation in the rest of Ulster is setting
the scene for stability and peace. Our income and
corporate tax rates plus our rate base will begin to
yield even more fruit on the jobs front.
"Work on job creation has been going on quietly in
the background and we are reluctant to release
details prematurely until deals are finalised."
