People from Inishowen
will be among those likely to find work with the
creation of 750 new positions at Stream
International in Derry, its managing director has
said.
Jeff Jennings said the company already employed
people from Donegal and would continue to do so.
Stream is based in the Ulster Science and Technology
Park on Buncrana Road, Derry. It also plans to open
new premises in the Waterside area of the city as
part of the expansion programme.
The company confirmed it will recruit 450 people
over the next couple of months after winning a
substantial new contract. A further 300 people will
be recruited in 2008.
"We've won a contract for 750 new jobs over two
years but 440 will have to be in place this year,"
said Mr. Jennings.
"Most of the 440 new employees will be located at
our existing premises and we will be also be opening
a new premises in the Waterside which will take
around 150 people."
Stream was set up in Derry in 1996 and is now the
second-largest employer in the city. The first
tranche of the new jobs will more than double the
firm's current workforce. Mr. Jennings said the
company was proud to have recently given awards to
employees for 10-years of loyal service.
"We have people from Donegal working here now and
people are coming from as far away as Strabane and
Limavady to work here," he added. |
