"Floating hotel" on the Foyle 05.07.07

LOUGH Foyle was host this week to a "floating English country hotel" in the form of the Braemar cruise liner.
The Braemar cruise liner anchored off Greencastle. The19,000 tonne Fred Olsen ship, cruised into Greencastle on Tuesday with 730 guests and 291 staff on board.
The local port was one of a number of stops on a tour of Britain and Ireland, that, after departing Dover, England, visited ports throughout Scotland, the Scilly Isles
and Waterford. Derry City Council hosted the Foyle visit, meeting and greeting the passengers with refreshments as they disembarked at Greencastle for onward excursions to the Giant's Causeway, the Derry City Walls and the Inishowen 100.
Meanwhile, the handsome liner itself caused quite a stir among locals and visitors as she dwarfed every passing vessel, from ferry to trawler.
As the promotional literature describes her: "Braemar continues the philosophy of offering guests the experience of a floating English country hotel".
Boasting 400 spacious cabins, expansive windows, large open decks and terraces, the gleaming ship also has a spectacular five-deck atrium, tennis court, swimming pools, fitness suite, beauty salon, several bars, restaurants and a nightclub.

this season, following the Black Prince which dropped anchor on June 17th.
