Sergio saves Buncrana bookie 24.07.07

Golfer Padraig Harrington's momentous win in the British Open may have cost Irish bookies millions but one Inishowen turf accountant said he got away lightly.
Liam McLaughlin of Buncrana said he would have been much worse off had Spaniard Sergio Garcia lifted the claret jug trophy.
"There wasn't a lot of money on Harrington here in Buncrana. Garcia would have been a much worse result for me," said Liam of the Market Square.
"Around ten people had money on Harrington but even at that, they were pretty small bets at around maybe €10."
Padraig Harrington.
Even so, with the Dubliner's odds at 20-1, the Buncrana bookie will now have to pay out €2,000.
"I was lucky this time," he added. "A good lot of people backed Garcia and he was a better price so I would have had a bigger pay-out had he won."
