Inishowen seafood

Inishowen seafood has
received the thumbs-up from Gordon Ramsey's protegee
and Michelin star winner, Angela Hartnett.
The 35-year old, who is head chef at The Connaught
in London, is now one of the most high profile women
in the international restaurant world.
But she has friends in Co. Donegal and recently gave
the peninsula a great plug in the national press.
"I think Ireland has probably got some of the best
produce around at the moment. I remember going up to
Malin Head with friends of ours who live in Donegal. |

"We were able to buy
fresh lobsters and crabs and oysters. It was just
fantastic," she said, in an interview with 'The
Irish Times'.
Malin Head Co-Op manager, Charlie O'Donnell told
InishowenNews.com seafood lovers travelled from "far
and wide" to get fresh produce at their outlet.
"We get people coming back again and again to get
their lobsters, crabs and other types of fish. There
is a mark of freshness and quality about the produce
here that appeals to people. |
But it's certainly nice
to know that our seafood is popular with Michelin
star chefs too," he said.
Hartnett certainly knows quality food having worked
with Ramsey for twelve years and having thrived
under his firebrand style in the kitchen.
Since he chose to install her in The Grill Room at
The Connaught - a notoriously "old boys'" hotel -
she has gone from strength to strength, winning over
the more conservative regulars in the process. In
January 2004, she won her first Michelin star,
becoming only one of three women in Britain to hold
the coveted accolade.
Meanwhile, her cool headedness under pressure won
her many fans when she appeared alongside her mentor
in the popular 'Hell's Kitchen' series.
While her late father hailed from Cobh in Cork,
Hartnett spent every summer as a child with her
maternal grandmother in Italy.
Last month, she published her first book, 'Angela
Hartnett’s Cucina, Three Generations of Italian
Family Cooking'. |
