Highland Radio for sale 27.03.07

British media group Emap has confirmed it’s considering selling Highland Radio.
In a trading statement today, Emap said it was “considering its options” in relation to its three Irish stations including Today FM and FM104.
The prized stations have a combined value estimated at around €170m.
Emap is tackling falling revenues and is currently engaged in cost-cutting measures.
While the stations are not officially on sale yet, potential buyers are already circling the goods. Media sources suggest UTV could be a bidder for one or more of the stations as it is keen for an acquisition. A US radio company is also said to be interested in the Irish stations.
Highland Radio enjoys continued success and profitability in Donegal and throughout the North West. Its quality brand of news, music, sport and the popularity of the Shaun Doherty Show sees it perform consistently well in the annual JNLR listenership figures.
