LETTERKENNY General
Hospital yesterday said it had no plans to close any
wards or cut jobs.
Management, however, said that some elective surgery
procedures were deferred recently as the hospital
was "particularly busy". |
|
The hospital's
statement follows a weekend media report that job
losses, ward closures and the postponement of
elective surgery were on the cards for hospitals in
the west.
It is understood that six hospitals in Connacht and
Donegal account for 15% of the €200m overrun in |
the Health Service
Executive's budget.
Sligo General Hospital may let 30 temporary nurses
go while it is believed University College Hospital
Galway is to close wards.
A spokesperson for Letterkenny General Hospital told
InishowenNews.com:
"There are no plans to close any wards and no job
losses are planned. As the hospital was particularly
busy, electives were deferred." |
