Inishowen firms urged to enter awards 09.08.07

ENTREPRENEURS from Inishowen are being urged to enter their businesses in the prestigious Donegal Enterprise Awards.
There have been no winners from the peninsula since the competition began ten years ago and the County Enterprise Board wants to encourage as many nominations from small firms in the area as possible.
“We know that there are a lot of Inishowen businesses that are punching above their weight, and we’d like to see them take the opportunity presented by the awards to raise their profiles locally and nationally.

"This is a great chance to put your company on the map” said Enterprise Board chief executive Michael Tunney.
The Board supports enterprise across Donegal providing services such as mentoring, business information, training and finance.
The awards were instituted in 1997 and
are aimed at small and micro-businesses in Donegal. Firms can be nominated in a number of categories including innovation, business growth, business achievement and exports.
An overall county award is made to one of the category winners each year, and this company goes on to represent Donegal in the national finals.
This year the Board has added a new Business Employee of the Year category to recognise employees who contribute to the success of local companies.
The county award winner for 2007 was Killygordon-based Pat Lafferty of Multicrete Precast Concrete, which designs and manufactures products such as windows and sills for the construction industry. Pat will represent Donegal in the national finals in September.
To nominate your company for any of these awards please contact Michael Tunney, CEO on 074 9160735 or email mtunney@donegalenterprise.ie . Alternatively, you can visit the County Enterprise Board’s website at  www.donegalenterprise.ie  and download an entry form.
