:: Malin GAA Club 12.11.18

AGM 2018
Our Annual General Meeting took place last Sunday in the clubhouse with all club officers giving reports for the 2018 season. The make up the committee is largely the same with Pat McLaughlin chairman, Seamus McLaughlin vice chairman. Brendan Monagle takes over from Linda McColgan as secretary, Elaine McColgan remains as assistant secretary. The club would like to place on record its thanks to Linda and it was included in the chairman’s report what a great a job Linda has done in the club over the last year and number of years in various roles, and we know she will still be involved as much as she can. John Byrne remains as treasurer and is assisted by Margaret Raymond and Susan Byrne.
Paul Gallagher is still Registrar while the club welcome Martin Doherty Edwards back as P.R.O with help from Linda McColgan on Facebook. The minor board has yet to have its agm and the roles of childrens officer, coaching officer and minor board Rep are yet to be ​filled. The development representatives on the executive are Michael McCarron and Kevin McGeoghegan and the field committee reps are Sean McLaughlin Owen and Vincent McColgan as well as John McLaughlin JM and Susan Byrne from the clubhouse management. Susanna Lafferty (Rustard) has stepped down from the role of culture officer and Mandy McLaughlin will take over.
The club would like to thank Susanna for her work in the organising of Scor and anyone who helped organise the teams in the competition last weekend. Maria Mclaughlin F is the ladies rep on the committee and Shaun Mclaughlin F will help coordinate the summer camps. Kate Kelly who has led a team of volunteers in the health and well-being committee for the last number of years has taken a step back and this role needs to be filled. Again the club would like to thank Kate for the work she has done in this area and are looking for anyone interested in leading this important role in the club.
The club are delighted to announce the appointment of the senior and reserve team management for the incoming season will be the joint team of Robert Farren and Shane McCarron. The club wish them and their backroom team every success in the year ahead. The meeting ended with an address from club president Patrick McLaughlin Rustard who thanked everyone who had helped the club in 2018 and wished everyone the best of enjoyment and good luck in their roles in 2019.

Lotto
There was no winner of this week’s lotto jackpot of €1550. The numbers drawn were 3-5-2-7-4-1-6 with the €50 going to Ellen McDaid, Bunn, Glengad. Next week’s jackpot is €1600.
 
Underage
Coaching for junior and senior infants continues every Sunday from 10:00am - 11-15am.Everyone welcome.
The under 13 train every Sunday at 12:00p.m. Thanks to members of the under 16 panel who helped with training last Sunday.

Scor
Well Done to our Trad Group and Quiz Team who participated in Scor na nOg in Burt last weekend. Our Trad Group was Tara McLaughlin, Kate McCallion, Kirsten McLucas and Bronagh McCarron. Our Quiz Team was Michael Walsh, Adam McGonagle, Connor O’Neill & Michael McCarron.

Well done
Well done and best of luck to Shaun McLaughlin(F) who is heading to Thailand next week to referee for the LGFA in the Asian Games. Another great achievement for Shaun, continuing to do the Club and Parish proud. We all should respect our referees and remember we would have no games without them.

Pool Room/League​​​​​​​​​​
The pool room is open at the weekends and the pool league is up and running. If anyone is interested they can contact John McLaughlin (JM).
 
Club Shop
Christmas orders must be in by next weekend. The new half zip top and the new senior jersey sponsored by John Byrne Seafoods are available to order. The club shop is open every Saturday from 12.00 – 2.00 and Sunday from 11.30 – 2.00 or alternatively contact Susan Byrne on 9370638 or 0867832242 . The shop also has a great range of stock in all sizes including coats, jackets, hoodies, tracksuits, socks, shorts, hats, new gear bags and much more club merchandise. 

Condolences
The club would like to give their sincere condolences to the family of Philomena Doherty, Leiter, sister of club volunteer and assistant treasurer Margaret Raymond, who died recently, may she rest in peace.

Advertising Hoardings
