THE director of Lough
Swilly Marina has sought the support of President
Mary McAleese for the company's development at Fahan.
Director J.J. McDaid said he tried to give the
letter to Mrs. McAleese personally during her visit
to Rathmullan to mark 400th anniversary of the
Flight of the Earls, but was prevented from doing
so.
He did, however, 'shake her hand' and managed to
hand his letter to "a large bodyguard".
“We have had to fight non-stop to protect our
investment since becoming involved in the project in
1998 and we will continue to do so until we get fair
play," said Mr. McDaid.
“At a time when jobs are flying out of the local
area you would think that the Government would be
doing everything in their power to support a marina
development that will not only create jobs, but
attract more and more national and international
marine based tourists to the local area.
Unfortunately that is not the case," he added. |
