OLDER people in Donegal
and those with disabilities will be able to apply
for housing adaptation grants from today.
The new framework has been introduced following
discussions with relevant voluntary organisations.
Three schemes, namely the Housing Adaptation Grant
for People with a Disability; Mobility Aids Housing
Grant and Housing Aid for Older People, have been
revised under the new measures.
The maximum Housing Adaptation Grant for people with
a disability will be €30,000 while the ceiling for
the Mobility Aids Housing Grant Scheme will be
€10,500.
“The Scheme of Housing Aid for Older People will
provide targeted support to improve conditions in
the existing housing of older people. This revised
scheme will amalgamate the provisions of the
existing Essential Repairs Grant and the Special
Housing Aid for the Elderly schemes," explained
Donegal Fianna Fail Senator, Brian O’Domhnaill.
It will include the provision of structural repairs
or improvements, re-wiring, repairs to or
replacement of water and the provision of water,
sanitary services and heating among other
modifications. |
