Three schools in
Inishowen will get a revamp during the summer
holidays.
Donegal North East T.D., Niall Blaney said the
refurbishment and modernisation would be funded
under the Department of Education's summer works
scheme.
Crana College, Buncrana; Carndonagh Community School
and Scoil Naisunta an Leinbh Iosa, Carrigans will
each undergo a revamp.
The are among four post primary and two primary
schools in Donegal North East to benefit from the
modernisation works.
Deputy Blaney said: “Rathmullen national schools
will undergo electrical works; Scoil Naisunta Umlach
in Carrigart will get new windows; Scoil Naisunta an
Leinbh Iosa in Carrigans will have work carried out
on its roof and Scoil Naisunta Baile Mor in
Dunfanaghy will have access work carried out.
"Post primary schools to undergo works are the
Loreto Convent in Letterkenny; Crana College in
Buncrana; the Vocational School in Letterkenny and
Carndonagh Community School. “
Deputy Blaney said the schools will be much more
pleasant surroundings for students when they return
to their desks in September.
“The works in these schools over the summer months
will greatly enhance the facilities for students to
learn in and for teachers to teach in.
“Because the works will be carried out in the summer
months this means there will be a minimum of
disruption for the students attending the school.”
He added: “This is the fourth year that we have
provided funding for modernisation and refurbishment
works to be carried out in schools throughout the
summer months and early autumn and we are seeing a
major improvement in the quality of school buildings
all around Donegal as a result." |
