Gardaí assisted by
helicopters and a dog team searched part of
Glenveagh National Park yesterday for clues to the
shooting of a 29 year old man.
The man, who is understood to be from Letterkenny,
was shot in the stomach and dumped in the Derryveagh
Mountains about 20 miles from Letterkenny.
It is believed he was attacked around 3.30am at a
house in Meenaroy by up to three men.
Despite his injuries, he managed to stagger to an
elderly man's remote home and raise the alarm.
He was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital where
he underwent emergency surgery.
Sinn Féin Councillor Dessie McMonagle, who is a
member of the Letterkenny Joint Policing
Partnership, said the gun attack was "very strange
and very worrying". |
