Graf wins Buncrana Rás stage
25.05.07
The FBD Milk Rás
cyclists had a warm but wet welcome in Buncrana
yesterday as heavy showers made the going tough in
places for participants. |
|
Irish rider Paídi
O’Brien took up second place on the mountainous leg
of the Rás at Mamore Gap and jumped from 11th to a
strong second overall.
But it was Nico Graf of Germany, who, in the final
minutes of the 131 kilometre stage, crossed the
Buncrana finish line in the best time to win Stage
5. |
Stage 6 of the race
today will bring the riders a total of 96 km to
Derry after leaving Buncrana Main Street at 11am. |
The cyclists will
return to Clonmany via Mintiagh Glen and continue
onwards to Carndonagh, Malin, Culdaff and Moville.
The route continues on via Muff to the city where
competitors will cycle a circuit of Derry's two
bridges, pass the Guildhall and finish the stage
with the climb up Shipquay Street. |
