Have your say on water quality 27.06.07

People in Inishowen are being urged to have their say about the best way the peninsula's local rivers, lakes, groundwater, estuaries and coastal waters should be managed.
The invitation is included in a new report, 'Water Matters', published in booklet form by the local authorities in the North Western District including Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim and Monaghan and the Department of the Environment, Northern Ireland.
Cllr. Patrick McGowan, chairperson of the North Western River Basin District Advisory Council and Mr. Peadar MacRory, acting director of services, water, environment and emergency services, Donegal County Council. The report was launched recently in Lifford by Cllr. Patrick McGowan, chairperson of the River Basin District’s Advisory Council. It asks people with an interest in their own local stretch of water whether a river, lake, spring or coastline, for suggestions on how to improve their quality into the future.
Copies of 'Water Matters' are available
free of charge from the headquarters of any of the local authorities in the region. It can also be downloaded from the local authority websites or from  www.nwirbd.com .
Cllr. McGowan explained: “This booklet sets out the key issues that affect the quality of water in the region in a very easy-to-read manner.
"These issues and the measures suggested to manage our waters, affect us all. Now is your chance to have your say. If anyone knows of additional information that should be factored into our future management plans, we are very eager to hear from them."
The booklet asks questions and gives details of how you can comment. You can submit any comments or observations for the next six months up to December 22nd, 2007.
